Leave it to Detroit Lions fans to have a little bit of fun as their team currently sits at 12-1, the best record in the NFL. While Lions fans have plenty to celebrate on the field, they decided to add a little extra entertainment off the field with a Dan Campbell Look-Alike contest. As the Lions continue their successful season, fans got creative by showing up to a contest that asked, “Who looks most like Coach Campbell?”
Twenty-two people showed up at the Hopcat pub in Midtown Detroit, as many fans brought their best impressions of the Lions' charismatic and fiery head coach. Contestants competed for free Cosmik Fries at Hopcat for a year and a golden game ball.
Some contestants were eerily close to Campbell’s trademark rugged look, with his strong jawline, steely eyes, and signature buzz cut. However, others might have missed the mark, bringing humor to the event as their attempts to replicate Campbell’s likeness left much to be desired.
But the true star of the contest? The winner, who could easily pass as an identical twin of the Detroit Lions' head coach, was Jeff Randall, who is a 55-year-old machinist from Manchester, MI. Whether it was the scruff or the intensity in their eyes, the winning contestant had the full Campbell vibe nailed down—no questions asked.
“Grit means determination. Grit means drive. Grit means never give up,” Randall said, impersonating Campbell after being crowned champion.
Check out the video (and photos) to see the competition for yourself, and be sure to enjoy the laughs along the way. And who knows, maybe next time, the real Dan Campbell will surprise fans by showing up to join in on the fun!
