Much has been made over the past couple of weeks on whether or not the Detroit Tigers will be buyers or sellers come trade deadline time. All of their recent activity suggests that they will in fact be buyers. Though they sit 7.0 games out of first place in the American League Central, they go into play tonight only .5 games back of the Minnesota Twins for the second Wild Card position. Convinced that they are still a championship contender, even with the loss of Miguel Cabrera for six weeks, the Tigers continue to send scouts to watch certain players. The latest player they have sent a scout to see was Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Scott Kazmir.
Teams with scouts at Kazmir's start tonight at Yankee Stadium include: TOR, HOU, KC, DET, WAS, PIT. Some monitoring Zobrist, Clippard.

It is also possible that the Tigers sent the scouts to look at Ben Zobrist, whose name has been thrown around as a potential filler during Cabrera’s absence.
