With JaCoby Jones done for season, Tigers to call up Derek Hill

The Tigers will be bringing up reinforcements after JaCoby Jones' injury.

The Detroit Tigers got the unfortunate news that had all been official last night when it happened – CF JaCoby Jones will be missing the remainder of the 2020 campaign with a fractured hand.

It also happens to be the exact same injury on the same hand that sidelined him last season as well. Double whammy.

In his absence, one member of the organization will be getting his first official shot with the big club.

Center fielder Derek Hill, a first round pick from 2014, will be called up by the team to take Jones' place and be making his MLB debut.

“He’s an exiting young player, and this will be a good opportunity for him to get some experience,” manager Ron Gardenhire said.

As you may remember, Hill showed us some pretty spectacular abilities playing in center field during Summer Camp. Only time will tell if he's able to translate that success into real game action.
