Its been over a week since the two in-state rivals met at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. It was a game that saw the underdog Michigan Wolverines upset the Michigan State Spartans, 82-72. This win would propel the Wolverines into the Top 25 for the first time all year and MSU, who came into that week ranked #1 overall, would most certainly fall from the top spot.

Tom Izzo had the Spartans bounce back nicely with a 28 point victory at home against the Indiana Hoosiers. Which was enough to move the Spartans from #9 ranked in the polls to #6. Michigan State has three games scheduled this week. starting tonight where they will play Illinois on the road. They finish the week playing at home against Wisconsin (Friday, January 26th) and on the road against Maryland (Sunday, January 28th).

John Beilein and the Michigan Wolverines had a busy week with having three games since their bout with Michigan State. They would finish the week 2-1 with home victories against Maryland and Rutgers and an embarrassing 20 point loss on the road against Nebraska. The loss dropped the Wolverines from #23 ranked team in the country to the #25 ranked team in the AP poll. The Wolverines only have one game scheduled this week, but it is against Purdue on the road (Thursday, January 25th). The Wolverines will be trying to avenge a heart-breaking loss they had at the hands of Purdue earlier this month which saw them losing the game 70-69. Purdue is currently tied for 1st  place in the Big Ten and is ranked #3 in the country.
