When it comes to the Detroit Pistons so far in 2021, there is no question about it that Jerami Grant has been their best player.
Grant, who is about to turn 27, was signed by the Pistons during the offseason to a 3-year, $60,007,500 contract, and to say he has lived up to it would be an understatement.
So far, in 33 games, Grant is averaging a whopping 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game and despite the Pistons being a losing team, he has been a major bright spot.
But could Grant soon be sent packing?
According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, Grant is amont the top trade targets for the Boston Celtics.
Among top trade targets for the Celtics: Detroit’s Jerami Grant, sources said. Grant is having a breakout season, averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is a leader for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.
According to James Edwards III, who also writes for The Athletic, the Pistons have no interest in moving Grant at this time.
Grant is in the midst of his best season as a pro, and despite him not being selected for his first All-Star appearance this year, many teams have checked in on his availability and made offers, per league sources. However, Detroit appears to have *no interest* whatsoever in trading Grant, who is averaging 23.4 points this season and is in good position to win the NBA’s Most Improved Award, per league sources.
Grant’s relationship with Weaver is very strong. It’s a big reason why the 26-year-old left a winning situation in Denver to join the rebuilding Pistons. Grant is considered a franchise building block and embodies everything Detroit wants its culture to be about moving forward.
From all accounts, Grant will be in a Pistons uniform for as long as he wants to be.
Nation, if you were the Pistons, would you part ways with Grant?
