After a very busy Monday, Stan Van Gundy and the Detroit Pistons don’t seem to be done yet as it pertains to the trade market. According to reports, the Pistons are now interested in obtaining Utah Jazz guard Rodney Hood.

A trade would more than likely send struggling forward Stanley Johnson to Utah in return according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

Hood was drafted by the Jazz in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft out of Duke (transferred from Mississippi State). Hood was 2014 second team all ACC and named to the SEC all-freshman team in 2012. He is 25-years-old and a three year veteran of the league. So far in the 2017-2018 campaign, Hood is averaging 16.7 Points per game including shooting 41% from the field including a little under 39% from 3 point range (.386). Hood has also been dealing with a lower leg injury recently which has required him to miss the last four games as well as seven games earlier in the year.
As for Stanley Johnson, he was drafted by the Pistons back in 2015 (8th overall). In his only season at Arizona, he was a first-team All-American. He also earned all Pac-12 honors and was named a Pac-12 player of the year. However, Johnson has struggled in the NBA averaging 6.2 points per game on 36% shooting throughout his career. This season he is averaging 7.6 points per game shooting 35% from the field and 28% from 3 point range.
Obviously, this would be a huge offensive upgrade if the trade was supposed to happen. However, there is no word on if the talks are serious or just exploratory. We will have more updates if or when they become available.
