Heading into Monday, the hopes were that former Detroit Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood would find out he was headed for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately, Osgood came up short in his fourth year of eligibility.

The 2017 Hockey Hall of Fame class includes Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Dave Andreychuk, Mark Recchi and Danielle Goyette (enshrinement), Clare Drake (College coach) and Jeremy Jacobs (Boston Bruins owner).

In his 18-year NHL career, Osgood recorded 401 victories while posting a 2.49 goals against average in that time. While with the Red Wings, he won three Stanley Cups (two as a starter).

  1. Andreychuk waited a lot more years than Ozzie and A scored more than 600 goals. Though I am an avid Wings’ fan, I cannot complain about A making the Hall; he was the only 600 goal scorer who had not made the Hall. Recchi scored over 500 goals, I believe, and won 3 Cups. No argument there. Salane scored more than 600 goals. No argument there either. Congrats to all the winners; Ozzie’s turn will come.
