When the Detroit Red Wings enter the 2017-2018 regular season they will be hoping to start a new playoff streak. That being said, they will have their work cut out for them after finishing 14th in the NHL’s Eastern Conference this past season with only 79 points.

According to reports, the Red Wings are “contenders” for defenseman Trevor Daley, who is fresh off a Stanley Cup Championship with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Daley, who is 33-years-old, scored five goals and dished out 14 assists in 56 games this past season with the Penguins. He was a valuable player to the Penguins Stanley Cup run as he had one goal and four assists and was a +7 in 21 playoff games.
