The Detroit Lions spent a lot of money this off season on upgrading Ford field. Among new video boards and upgraded wifi, one area that was updated and that will certainly change the game day experience for fans is the concessions. The Lions have added a variety of exciting new foods and drink options to the concourse.
A couple of the highlights include Hopcats famous crack fries. Crack fries are well known in Michigan and were listed on food networks top ten fries in America. These fries are seasoned to perfection and cooked to the perfect amount of crispiness.
Another new food item added is the “Leinydog” be warned, just reading the description will put some plaque in your arteries. The Leinydog is a footlong hot dog stuffed with cheese made from Leinenkugel’s beer and then wrapped in a pretzel.
The Lions also unveiled a new drink called “The Long Snapper.” Essentially, it’s a Moscow mule with a small twist. Here’s how Pride of Detroit described it:
The drink has similar makings of a Mule, with vodka as the base liquor and Mist Twist to give it a citrus kick. But instead of ginger beer, they use Blue Curacao to give it that Honolulu Blue tint.
I imagine a couple of those and even Don Mulbach wouldn’t be reliable.
Flowers of Vietnam, a new restaurant in Detroit, will also be serving chicken wings inside Ford Field. It is hard to go wrong with chicken wings and this seems like a potential fan favorite.
Their traditional menu offers “Korean-fried caramel chicken wings” along with more traditional Vietnamese options.
With all the new food and drink options available on game day, it will be harder than ever to escape from a Lions game without over indulging on food and alcohol. Heres to hoping that we will be putting back “long Snappers” as an act of celebrating touchdowns and victories, not in an attempt to forget whats happening on the field.
