The second week of college football was full of exciting and influential games. With both Michigan and Michigan State taking home victories, the people of Michigan have to be at least satisfied with their team’s performance. As the weekend of college football has wrapped up the new AP poll has been released.

As you can see below, Alabama remains the No. 1 team in the Nation, while four Big Ten teams are included in the Top 10 of this week’s AP rankings. Oklahoma, Clemson, USC, and Penn State round out the Top 5.

Nobody made a bigger move (in the wrong direction) than the Ohio state Buckeyes. After falling to Oklahoma, the Buckeyes fell six spots from No. 2 to No. 8.

Neither Michigan nor Michigan State made substantial moves, though Michigan did climb one spot to No. 7, which included a leapfrog of the Buckeyes. Michigan State remained unranked, though they did score one vote for a place in the top 25. This past Saturday both teams played games full of missed opportunity but managed to beat inferior opponents nonetheless with the Wolverines defeating Cincinnati and the Spartans disposing of Western Michigan.

As Week 3 approaches Michigan will host Air Force, and MSU will have an early season bye week. Both teams hope to take advantage of the upcoming weeks and move closer to the ultimate goal of winning the Big Ten Championship.

As this young season continues there will be plenty of changes in the rankings as upsets happen across the board. The positive for both Michigan and Michigan State fans is that they hold their own destinies in their hands. Just keep winning, and they will achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
