And so it begins.

The 2017 Major League Baseball GM meetings are officially underway in Orlando and the Detroit Tigers have already made a minor move.

According to Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers have agreed to a deal with career minor league relief pitcher Mark Montgomery.

Montgomery, who is a 27-year-old right-hander, was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the 11th round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft. Since being drafted, he has bounced around the minor leagues and has yet to crack a Major League roster.

In 2017, he posted a 2.43 ERA with 73 strikeouts in 46 appearances (66.2 IP) with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League.

As noted by Fenech, Montgomery will receive an invitation to the Tigers Major League Spring Training in Lakeland, FL.
