Dan Campbell explains who should win NFL Coach of the Year Award

When a team goes from 3-13-1 to 9-8 in a matter of one year, the head coach is sure to be mentioned in the NFL Coach of the Year conversation. That is exactly what happened to Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell in 2022 as the Lions finished with a 9-8 record, coming up just short of making the NFL Playoffs.

Who does Dan Campbell think will win the NFL Coach of the Year Award?

Dan Campbell Brad Holmes

On Monday Night, Campbell was a guest on the “ManningCast” on ESPN2, and when asked about potentially winning the NFL Coach of the Year Award, Campbell admitted that there are coaches that are more worthy.

Specifically, Campbell mentioned New York Giants coach Brian Daboll and Jacksonville Jaguars coach, Doug Pederson.

“Look, it would absolutely be an honor because there are some really good coaches that deserve that,” Campbell said. “To me, there are better ones out there than me, by the job they did this year. (New York Giants coach Brian) Daboll would one of those, just did a heck of a job. (Jacksonville Jaguars coach) Doug Pederson, I can go down the list. Yeah, I’d be honored, but there are some coaches that would be really worthy of that.”

Nation, who do you think will win the NFL Coach of the Year Award? If the Lions would have made the playoffs, do you think Campbell would have won it?
