Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio attempts to expose ESPN’s Adam Schefter, proceeds to get destroyed

When it comes to NFL insiders, there is none better than Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter is always on top of breaking news and he reports that news in a fair and unbiased way.

But on Wednesday, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, who wants badly to be as connected as Schefter is, published an article in which he calls out Schefter for sending an unpublished story to former Washington Football Team owner (then the Redskins) Bruce Allen and asking for his feedback and approval.

In July 2011, Allen and ESPN’s Adam Schefter corresponded regarding a story related to the efforts to conclude the lockout. Schefter actually sent Allen the full draft of a story that Schefter planned to publish, for Allen’s review and approval.

“Please let me know if you see anything that should be added, changed, tweaked,” Schefter wrote. “Thanks, Mr. Editor, for that and the trust. Plan to file this to espn about 6 am. . . .”

Florio then went on to explain that it is “definitely not normal” for reporters to send “entire stories” to a source for them to review.

Well, Florio trying to expose Schefter is not going over well in the Twittersphere.

Ok so Allen was the source of Schefter's reporting, so he sent it to Allen to ensure it was right? Seems like a reporter doing his job instead of putting out something miscommunicated with a source. Rest is fluff.

Exactly, this isn’t hard to understand. Anyone with common sense would have expected some type of quid pro quo relationship between Schefter and those in power in the league. Non story IMO.
