As was previously reported, was once again confirmed by Steve Yzerman on Thursday. The Detroit Red Wings will not offer a contract to goaltender, Jimmy Howard.
The question is, how will Yzerman replace Howard? Will he stay in house since the team is still multiple years away from contending, or will he look to the free-agent market following the 2020 NHL Draft?

While talking to reporters during Thursday’s presser, Yzerman made it clear that he will look at the free agency market to replace Howard.
“We are not going to offer him a contract prior to the free agency period, so we will look at the free agency market for a goaltender,” Yzerman said.
