Williams (6-2, 185 pounds) is listed as the No. 21 player in the state of Michigan and the No. 76 cornerback nationally, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. His recruiting trail began back in early December of 2016, when a host of Mid-American Conference programs offered him scholarships. Then various Big Ten schools joined the fray, including Michigan State.
The Spartans formally offered him back in mid-May and his verbal commit comes roughly one month after receiving said offer. He has not made an sort of visits to any schools thus far.

2018 CLASS COUNTER: 8
With the pledge of Williams, that now gives Michigan State eight hard commits for the Class of 2018, a class that currently ranks 9th in the Big Ten and 35th in the country. Williams is the second in-state player to commit to MSU, joining 4-star pro-style quarterback Theo Day out of Divine Child High School (Dearborn, MI), who announced his commitment back in February.
Overall, Williams is the second commit in the last week for the Spartans, joining 3-star linebacker Jeslord Boateng (Dublin, OH). He is also the third player in the secondary and sixth player on defense overall from this particular crop of MSU commits.
