Michigan State’s latest football commit from the Class of 2018 comes from a state where they have made a field day plucking talent: Ohio.
Another Buckeye State-made prospect announced his pledge to the Spartans for next season on Tuesday, 3-star inside linebacker Chase Kline (Chardon, OH).

Kline (6-3, 225 pounds) is listed as a top-25 talent in both the state of Ohio and at the inside linebacker position. He had been a big target for MSU going back to mid-June when he attended a camp hosted by the program and they offered him a scholarship. Kline most recently made an unofficial visit to East Lansing just last week.
Kline is ultimately (and tentatively) pledging to Michigan State over the likes of Minnesota, Cincinnati, Purdue and a host of Ivy League schools.
2018 CLASS COUNTER: 14
With the addition of Kline, the Spartans now have 14 hard commits from the Class of 2018. Kline is the ninth prospect to come from the state of Ohio. He’s also the third linebacker prospect for Michigan State, joining fellow 3-star linebackers (and statesmen) Jeslord Boateng (Dublin, OH; committed on June 12) and Edward Warinner (Powell, OH).
Kline is also the second commit in the span of six days. Last week, the Spartans earned a pledge from 3-star WDE Parks Gissinger (West Hills, CA). These names all make up a class that currently ranks 9th in the Big Ten, 34th in the country.
