On August 31, just minutes before the Major League Baseball trade deadline, it was announced that the Detroit Tigers had traded their long-time ace Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros for a trio of prospects.

Also included in the deal was the Tigers sending a player to be named later (PTBNL) to the Astros.

Just after midnight, the Tigers public relations department tweeted out the name of the PTBNL that is being sent to Houston to complete the trade. That player is outfielder Juan Ramirez.

Ramirez, who is only 18, is a 5’9″, 160 lb outfielder who played in the Tigers minor league system for the past two seasons. In 2017, while playing for the Tigers (West) of the Gulf Coast League, Ramirez hit .301 while driving in 10 runs in 46 games. He also added 11 stolen bases in 18 attempts.
