On this day in 2013, Detroit fans everywhere were given chills.

Any Detroit Red Wings fan of the last 5+ years knows the adversity Darren Helm faced between 2011 – 2013 with injuries. It was almost heartbreaking to see Helmer working so hard to get back into the game only to have yet another setback. Between a sprained MCL, a fractured cheekbone, a lacerated tendon, and a mysterious back ailment at training camp, it was almost as if he couldn’t buy his way back onto the ice.

So it was amazing to see Helm, on his first shift in his first game back from injury, score an amazing breakaway goal against the Edmonton Oilers. It was surely a very emotional night for him.

The Red Wings went on to win that game in a 5-0 shutout victory, meaning not only was it Helm’s first goal back on the season, but it ended up being the game-winner as well. A hell of a night for one hell of a guy.

KRONWALLED! Nick Cousins leveled by massive Niklas Kronwall hit

Looks like Niklas Kronwall got the memo about Halloween, and dressed up as his pre-2014 self in the Detroit Red Wings’ Tuesday night game against the Arizona Coyotes.

This is the Kronwall that we miss dearly.
