Both Mercer and Harrison were signed in the offseason with the hopes they would bridge the gap until some of the Tigers' younger infielders in the minor leagues were ready for the show. Unfortunately, both players have suffered injuries and when they have played, they have not been good.
So far in 2019, Mercer is batting .206 with one home run and three RBIs in 19 games while Harrison is batting .219 with one home run and eight RBIs in 36 games.
