Heading into Sunday night’s game between the Detroit Lions, pretty much nobody outside of Detroit gave Dan Campbell and the Lions a chance to beat a Green Bay Packers team that would be trying to clinch a playoff spot on their home field. Well, each and every one of those haters are now eating crow because the Lions took down the Packers by a score of 20-16.
What did Dan Campbell say after the game?
After disposing of the Packers in front of a national audience, Campbell spoke to reporters and he made it clear that the Lions were on a mission to gain respect.
“We knew what we were coming in here for,” Dan Campbell said after Detroit’s 20-16 win. “It was to gain some respect and show what we’re capable of.”
Running back Jamaal Williams told reporters that Campbell showed the team clips of just about everybody picking the Packers to beat the Lions.
“Everybody picked the Packers,” said Williams. “Nobody trusted in us. That’s how I like it, though. I like people to underestimate us and think that we can’t do it and then we come out here and show people. I just love changing peoples’ hearts.”
Though the Lions were not able to do enough to earn a playoff berth, they certainly let the NFL know that they are not going anywhere.
