The Detroit Lions have officially made Juneteenth an organizational holiday, and have closed their offices in observance of the day.
Juneteenth oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
Former Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson took to social media earlier today to explain his thoughts on the subject:
“Juneteenth’ represents the strength and the power of the African American community,” he said.
