Many hoped that Al Avila would pony up the cash to bring James McCann back to the Detroit Tigers, but according to reports, that will not be the case.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that McCann is closing in on a four-year, $40 million deal with the New York Mets.

Since leaving the Tigers, McCann has played in 149 games with the Chicago White Sox, where he batted .276 with 25 home runs and 75 RBIs.
