Rivalry games tend to dial up the emotion and intensity level of athletes, especially in college football. The added adrenaline could often to lead to complications for the respective officiating crews of such games, thus having to sort out a potential mess or two.

Baylor and TCU are no different. One of the more longer rivalries in college football, the two concluded their respective regular seasons on the day after Thanksgiving. The No. 12 Horned Frogs dispatched their rival Bears from Waco 45-22 on Friday, improving to 10-2 ahead of their conference title game showdown with Oklahoma next week.

But there was a moment in the game when things got a little… well, hairy. So much so, that the official had to make the bold decision and just penalize everyone… literally.

Just a friendly reminder as to the exact explanation provided by the official:

“Unsportsmanlike conduct, TCU bench,” the ref deadpans. “Everybody on the field will get an unsportsmanlike. Unsportsmanlike conduct on Baylor. Everyone on that bench will get an unsportsmanlike.”

Amazingly, this is not the first time this happened this season. Last month, the head referee of a game involving Kentucky and Tennessee was faced with a similar ultimatum following a skirmish after a kickoff play.

Talking big picture, the extracurricular activity between Baylor and TCU could end up harming the Horned Frogs down the road. As we mentioned, they are slated to play Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship next Saturday (Noon ET on FOX). The league is expected to review the events that took place in Fort Worth on Friday between the two rivals and it is very much possible that TCU could be without players for portions of the game against the Sooners, if not all of it.
