It sounds like Marvin Jones Jr. is ready to leave the Detroit Lions

When you look back at all of the free-agent moves Bob Quinn made while he was general manager of the Detroit Lions, there is little question about it that signing Marvin Jones Jr. was his greatest accomplishment.

Now, with just one game remaining on his current contract, Jones Jr. is set to become a free agent and whether or not he is back with the Lions in 2021 is yet to be determined…at least officially.

On Wednesday, Jones Jr. spoke to reporters via a Zoom conference call and when asked if he wants to stay in Detroit, he was noncommittal. In fact, he hinted that he will prioritize playing for a contender.

“We’ll see,” Jones Jr. told reporters. “I am a free agent … and the free-agent process is something I’m very excited about. We’ll see in March.”

Nation, would you like to see Marvin Jones Jr. back in the Honolulu blue and silver in 2021 or is it time to move on?

  1. He was a bright spot for Detroit in some not so good seasons. But it’s time to move on from a lot of the players. We have to get out of paying mid-level players top level price. We need to build strong, deep offensive and defensive lines then work out from there. We need to keep Stafford while we have him under contract until it doesn’t cost us millions of dollars to not have him play for us. Also, there isn’t any QB out there that we can get to replace him that he’s played through some terrible teams where he and Calvin Johnson carried that offense. Fortunately, we had a damn good defense at the time. Overall what I’m trying to say is to keep Stafford draft a QB or pick up one or two that are possible future elite or good QBs. While doing that build a complete team then trade Stafford when it makes more sense too and we reap the benefits of the draft picks!
