JUST IN: Dylan Larkin comments on not being name Red Wings’ captain

It seemed like just a matter of time before Dylan Larkin would be named captain of the Detroit Red Wings.

But on Thursday, news broke that Red Wings’ GM Steve Yzerman decided not to have a captain this season. Instead, Larkin, Justin Abdelkader, Frans Nielsen, and Luke Glendening will be the four alternates for the 2019-2020 season.

Larkin is currently in Traverse City with his teammates for training camp and on Friday, he commented on not being named captain.

The Michigan native noted that Yzerman talked to him a couple of weeks ago about leadership both on and off the ice.
