It seemed like just a matter of time before Dylan Larkin would be named captain of the Detroit Red Wings.
But on Thursday, news broke that Red Wings' GM Steve Yzerman decided not to have a captain this season. Instead, Larkin, Justin Abdelkader, Frans Nielsen, and Luke Glendening will be the four alternates for the 2019-2020 season.
