The Michigan Wolverines lost a heartbreaker to the Penn State Nittany Lions at State College Saturday night, falling 28-21 after a valiant comeback fell just short.
Afterwards, head coach Jim Harbaugh had some things to say about the officiating crew that worked the game. Safe to say, he didn’t agree with their calls, which he viewed to be inconsistent.

“It’ll be interesting to compare some of the scenarios in the game on (officiating) calls,” Harbaugh said in his post-game press conference. “Thought some of our receivers were getting tackled at the end.”
One could make an argument that Penn State was the beneficiary of two non-calls that could’ve been flagged for pass interference. There was also an illegal man downfield penalty that cost the Wolverines six points.
“It’ll be interesting to see the lineman down field, the one they called on us and took off a touchdown compared to — especially the one that stands out in my mind was Hawkins going for an interception and a guard knocking him away,” Harbaugh continued. “So, there’s a few. The OPI they called on us for the OPI that I thought should have been called on them on their first touchdown.”
Officiating aside, the Wolverines are now 1-10 against AP ranked opponents in the Jim Harbaugh era.
