JUST IN: Miguel Cabrera placed on DL; Tigers add John Hicks to active roster

As if losing four games in a row, to teams arguably you should have beaten, the Tigers announced this morning that slugger Miguel Cabrera is being placed on the 10-day disabled list with a groin strain.

weak ground ball hit between Ian Kinsler and himself, a ball that snuck through and drove in two runs, driving Justin Verlander from the game.

It also comes on the heels of a stretch of time where Miggy was finally starting to heat up again. After a pretty good series in Tampa Bay, Cabrera was 3-3 before leaving the game on Friday night. It was a great sign for Tigers fans to finally see Miguel coming around, after a disastrous start.

The corresponding move was to bring minor league catcher, John Hicks, up from Toledo. He reportedly received a call at 12:30 a.m. telling him he had a flight at six to meet the team in Minnesota. So far this season Hicks is slashing .424/.412/.606 for the Mud Hens. He has seen action at first base, but not this spring.

The news comes at a time when Tigers fans have been waiting for our other slugger, J.D. Martinez, to get back from an injury that has shelved him since Spring Training. The question everyone now must ask themselves is this, will the Tigers ever have a full lineup to compete with? The silver lining through it all is that the team has been winning, though 8-8, sitting one game out of first place in the American League Central. If ever healthy, they could definitely compete this season.
