Mock trade lands Red Wings with Tyler Johnson, Alex Killorn, and elite goalie prospect

As the 2020-21 (actually just 2021) NHL season gets closer and closer, there has been plenty of speculation as to whether or not Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman has another trade up his sleeve.

Much of that speculation has revolved around Yzerman making a deal with his former team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are desperately trying to lower their current salary cap.

While surfing the good old internet, I stumbled across a mock trade put out by The Hockey Writers that includes the Red Wings landing a Tyler Johnson, Alex Killorn, and an elite goaltending prospect from the Lightning.

The trade, which was talked out and agreed upon by Tony Wolak of The Hockey Writers and Tampa Bay journalist Eugene Helfrick, would send Johnson, Killorn, goaltending prospect Hugo Alnefelt, and the Lightning’s 2021 first-round pick and 2022 second-round pick to Detroit in exchange for the Red Wings 2021 fourth-round pick

Now, you may read the above mock trade and think that this is something that could not even happen in a video game but stay with me here.

Tampa Bay GM Julien BriseBois has to sign both Anthony Cirelli and Erik Cernak while also figuring out a way to get under the salary cap limit.

Though this trade seems nuts, do not be surprised if something very similar happens before the start of the season.
