Only one Detroit Lion deserves a Pro Bowl nod

It has been a very difficult season for the Detroit Lions, who currently sit at 2-11-1 on the season with just three games remaining on their 2021 schedule.

On Tuesday night, the NFL will release all of the players around the league who have been voted into the Pro Bowl and it seems unlikely that the Lions will have anyone make the cut.

That being said, there is one Lions player who is most deserving of a Pro Bowl nod and he just so happens to be a rookie.

That player is Penei Sewell.

After being selected by the Lions with the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, it was decided that Sewell, who had played left tackle in college, was being moved to the right side so that veteran Taylor Decker did not have to change positions.

But, as we know, Decker was injured and Sewell, who had taken most of his reps on the right side, was flipped back to the left, where he did a solid job. Then, when Decker returned, rather than keeping Sewell at LT, he was moved back to RT, and to say he has been dominant would be an understatement. In fact, over the past 10 weeks, Sewell is the No. 2 ranked offensive lineman according to Pro Football Focus.

It is highly unlikely that Sewell gets the nod but if there is any Detroit Lions player who is deserving, it is Penei Sewell.

Honorable Mention: Jack Fox
