With the Major League Baseball trade deadline just days away, the rumors continue to fly when it comes to the Detroit Tigers and who they will or will not part with if anyone.

Everybody seems to have an opinion on what the Tigers should do prior to the July 31 deadline. Some believe the team should do whatever they can to shed payroll while others are convinced that Tigers GM Al Avila should maintain a high price tag on players like Justin Verlander, Ian Kinsler, and Justin Wilson.

Each of those players has given their thoughts on the trade rumors that have been circulating around but one player who had not said much (before now) is second-year pitcher, Michael Fulmer.

Well, on Wednesday, Fulmer opened up about the trade deadline, specifically giving his thoughts about how Avila should handle things.

From The Detroit News:

“I hope if we go ahead and sell, I hope we do it all, I hope we go all out,” Fulmer said Wednesday. “I hope we don’t sell a few guys here. I hope we get younger, I hope we take a more business approach to it.”

Fulmer certainly has a strong opinion and he has even gone as far as sharing that opinion with Tigers assistant GM David Chadd.

“I told David, whatever has to be done, it needs to be done,” Fulmer said. “I just want to win. That’s my main priority. … Obviously at the start of the year, we thought we had a very good chance to win, and we still think that, don’t get me wrong. Obviously Al has a different approach to it now, because he wants to sell everything and kind of start all over, which is fine by me. Either way, I’m good. I just want to be part of a winning team.”

Whether or not Avila takes Fulmer’s advice is yet to be determined but one thing is for certain, we will know shortly.
