Former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood was known for making big saves. He was also known as one of the few goalies to score an empty-net goal.

On March 6, 1996 the Wings were up 3-2 against the Hartford Whalers when they pulled their goalie for an extra skater. They tried to dump the puck in but Osgood had other thoughts and launched it across the ice and into the empty net giving the Wings a 4-2 victory.

Osgood retired with one goal, a .905 save percentage, and a 2.49 GAA.
