When it comes to the best players ever to play for the Detroit Lions, there is no question about it, Barry Sanders is number one on the list. In 10 seasons with the Lions, Sanders rushed for a whopping 15,269 yards and scored 109 total touchdowns. On Sunday, against the Miami Dolphins, Sanders was the Lions' honorary team captain, and at halftime, it was announced by Chris Spielman that a statue of Sanders will be erected outside of Ford Field in 2023.

There is no way that I can express my gratitude to the entire Ford family, my teammates, my coaches, the Lions front office, the media, and most of all to the fans.
“As I soak it all in and reflect on my career, I recognize what a tremendous honor this is.”Via Will Burchfield – 97.1 The Ticket
