Blake Corum has advice for struggling Michigan RB Donovan Edwards

Heading into the 2023 Michigan Football season, there were quite a few people who were extremely excited to see what running back Donovan Edwards would do to follow up a stellar sophomore season. During the 2022 season, Edwards carried the ball 140 times for 991 yards (7.1 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns. He also caught 18 passes for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns. But rather than tearing it up this season, Edwards has gotten off to a very slow start. In fact, in five games, he has carried the ball 47 times for just 157 yards (3.3 yards per carry) and no touchdowns.

Blake Corum Encourages Donovan Edwards

On Tuesday, Wolverines running back Blake Corum joined the crew on the Stoney & Jansen Show on 97.1 The Ticket, and he revealed what he has told Edwards about sticking to the plan.

“What I tell Don is, ‘Hey man, stick to the plan and don’t listen to the naysayers on Twitter or what they have to say,” Corum said. “That’s their opinion and their opinion doesn’t matter. Just be where your feet are, watch film like I do, see where you can get better. See, ‘Dang, should I have made that cut? That’s what I’m going to work on this week.’ And I think he did a heck of a job Saturday. He ran with authority. Like I said, just stick to the plan.

His time’s coming, he knows. That game, that breakout game where he rushes for 150 to 200 yards and a couple touchdowns is coming. It’s in his near future. That’s why I preach to him: ‘Hey, we’re winning, nothing’s better than winning.'”
