BREAKING: Detroit Tigers’ pitcher to miss remainder of Season

Matt Moore’s surgery was a success, but he will miss the season.

Moore was off to a promising (if short) start with the Tigers. He threw nine and two-thirds scoreless innings before hurting his knee fielding a come-backer against the Kansas City Royals on April 6th. Moore finished the inning allowing no runs but couldn’t come back.

Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire confirmed the prognosis:

This is not the first injury in Moore’s (30) career. After an exciting early career with the Tampa Bay Rays, Moore had Tommy John surgery in 2015. He had previously injured the same knee as well.

Moore signed a one-year $2.5 million deal with the Tigers during the offseason. Now he will spend the rest of that year on the IL.
