Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes defends rolling with Jared Goff at QB

When the 2021 season begins, barring an unforeseen injury, Jared Goff will be the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions.

Goff, of course, was acquired by the Lions via a trade that sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams.

Ever since the moment the Lions traded for Goff, plenty of haters have come out of the woodwork to bash him as a starting quarterback and many believed the Lions should have selected a QB with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Lions GM Brad Holmes recently spoke to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press and he made it pretty clear that he has plenty of confidence in what Goff can do.

“I know that Dan and Anthony Lynn will have the right system in place and they know Jared and they know what he does well,” Holmes said. “I think that is a big part of it. And there’s a lot of things that people say, ‘Well, can Jared get back to what he used to be?’ That’s like, oh, I mean the guy, the past four years, he’s been in postseason three of the past four years and one was a Super Bowl appearance. And the last time you saw the guy play a game was in a divisional playoff game where he completed over 70% of his passes with a broken hand. So it’s like, I mean, I don’t get that part of it. But again, it is what it is.”

Nation, how long do you expect Jared Goff will be the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions?

  1. This article is awful. Get off Goff’s case and lets see how he does this year. We may not be ready to win a lot of games this year but that will not fall on him, we have a roster full of holes, (thank you Quintricia). Unnecessary article, it really is being critical before the guy even has a chance. Find something decent to write about Brady.
