When the Detroit Lions traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff and draft picks, the hope was that a fresh start for Goff would be just what the doctor ordered for the former No. 1 overall pick.
After a rough first half of the season, Goff played much better down the stretch and some have mentioned that there is still a chance that he can be part of the Lions long-term plans.
On Friday, Lions GM Brad Holmes joined the crew on 97.1 The Ticket and he made himself pretty clear about his expectations for Goff moving forward.
“Jared is gonna be just like any other player on our roster where he’s gonna have to continue to prove himself, which I have faith that will,” Holmes said. “I’ll say it again, for the entire organization. Jared, myself, Dan, our rookie class, we all made strides in being part of laying our foundation. It all goes back to being better this year than you were last year. I’m happy for Jared on how he ended the season, but just like how our culture is, you’re gonna have to come back and continue to be better and prove it.”
If Goff wants to be part of the future in Detroit, he’s not only going to have to play how he did towards the end of the 2021 season, but he is going to have to be even better.
