Heading into the offseason, Detroit Lions GM Bob Quinn had a plethora of moves to make if he was going to improve a Lions defense that was abysmal in 2019. One of those moves was to solidify the linebacker’s room by adding a player who was actually able to cover an opponent in the passing game.
Quinn did just that by signing former New England Patriots LB Jamie Collins.
Collins, who is not the greatest run-stopper ever to play the linebacker position, was very good against the pass in 2019. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus, Collins posted the lowest passer rating (50.4) allowed by a linebacker since 2011.
Let’s hope Collins can duplicate his performance with the Lions in 2020!
