Game Notes:

Ian Kinsler got the party started right with his 41st career leadoff home run. Then, the party stopped.

Daniel Norris was tagged for 5 runs (4 earned) in only 4.2 innings of work. This ends his consecutive start streak at 21 games of giving up three or less earned runs. While not his best outing, he definitely wasn’t helped out defensively, with more misplayed balls in the outfield leading to extra bases and runs for the Rays. the second time in three games, being able to muster only the single run gained in the first. Warwick Saupold did about all he could to keep the Rays off the board, but in the end he followed suit with the rest of the bullpen and gave up three earned runs in 3.1 innings of work, and was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after the game. Left handed pitcher, Blaine Hardy, is being recalled to take his roster spot, expected to join the team in Minnesota.

Looking Ahead:

The Detroit Tigers travel to Target Field to take on the Minnesota Twins for a three-game weekend set. After having been swept by the Rays, the Tigers will be glad to be out of Tropicana Field and into a real ballpark; though true, it is not the reason they lost these games. The Tigers recently took two of three from the Twins and will look to do the same, if not more, against them this time. Even with the sweep the Tigers still sit in first place, albeit they could be tied with three teams by the end of the day.
