Jerry Jones confirmed that former Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush has made the Dallas Cowboys roster.

It may not “officially” be as Dak Prescott’s backup, but that is assumed. Former Lion Kellen Moore and Luke McCown are still fighting for a roster spot that might not exist since it is likely that the Cowboys will only carry two QBs.
Jones’s declaration came after Rush went 12 of 13 for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a Cowboys preseason win over the Oakland Raiders on Saturday night. It is eerily reminiscent of Jones publicly awarding Tony Romo a roster spot after a preseason game against the Raiders in 2003.
Rush, a Charlotte, MI, native and three-year starter at Lansing Catholic, repeated that same feat by starting for three years for the Chippewas. He set a program record for passing yards his senior year, and holds the NCAA bowl record with seven touchdown passes in the 2014 Bahamas Bowl.
Rush signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in May.
