Today Major League Baseball hosted their first-year player draft. Three high school players were taken with the first three picks, followed by eight collegiate players, and five other high schoolers.

The Tigers picked at spot 18 and with that selection, they chose right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo from the Florida Gators.
With the 18th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, the Detroit Tigers select RHP Alex Faedo from the University of Florida.

Faedo is a quality starter from the SEC who can contribute to a bevy of young arms already in the Tigers minor league system.
