The Goin’ to Work Detroit Pistons team that won the 2004 NBA Championship is a team that will forever be remembered.
During that magical 2003-2004 season, the Pistons ended up squaring off against Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals.

Heading into the series, very few gave the Pistons any real chance at winning. After all, they were facing a team that had two of the best players in NBA history.
But as we know, the Pistons went on to defeat the Lakers in what we now refer to as the “5-game sweep.”
The only loss the Pistons had in the series was in Game 2 when Lakers guard Kobe Bryant hit a 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. The Lakers ended up winning the game 99-91 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Ever since that game, there have been rumors/reports that Pistons head coach Larry Brown suggested his team foul Kobe before he could get off a 3-point attempt but the players refused saying, “We never foul.” The story goes that Brown then suggested fouling Shaq if the ball went to him, but his players refused.
On Monday, Brown joined the Jamie and Stoney Show on 97.1 The Ticket to talk about his memories of Kobe Bryant, who passed away a day earlier as a result of a helicopter crash.
Near the end of the interview, Brown was asked if the reports about what happened in Game 2 of the 2004 NBA Finals were true and Brown confirmed it to be accurate, noting that the team did not listen to him half of the time anyway.
