On Tuesday night, Detroit Lions president Rod Wood told reporters that the Lions intend to bid on the next round of available Super Bowl locations. Additionally, the Lions will bid to host the NFL Draft, and Wood said that the Fox Theater would be the perfect location.

The Draft has traditionally been held in New York, but has taken place in Chicago the past two years, and it will be in Philadelphia this year.

Wood shared his thoughts with reporters on Wednesday night.

“First of all, it’s a centrally located market,” he explained. “It’s easy for fans to get to. I think that our airport isn’t anything but a great asset for people to get in and out of Detroit. And I think the Fox Theater would be a great location to hold the draft.”

Wood also reiterated his desire to see Ford Field host another Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in 2006 in Detroit.

“From the time that we had the last Super Bowl until now, the city has kind of remade itself. I think it would be a great showcase to show that to the world,” Wood said. “I think it’s going to be a challenge. I think that’s going to be a hard one to win. I don’t think there’s been another Northern city that’s got one beyond the one you get, typically, when you open a new stadium. So that’s going to be a hard one to sell.

“But I don’t think that should prevent us from trying either.”

How excited would you be to see Detroit host both the NFL Draft and the Super Bowl?
