There have been plenty of changes for the Detroit Lions thus far in 2020, and the coming offseason is sure to bring plenty more.
One situation that’s still to be decided is the future of kicker Matt Prater, who has been trudging through the worst season of his NFL career. He’s currently ranked 26th among the NFL’s 32 kickers, having converted 74.1% of his field-goal attempts.
“For me, personally, it’s been frustrating,” Prater said. “I’ve missed some kicks I expect to make, been inconsistent, but feel like I’m still hitting ’em strong and hitting ’em well. Just have not been as consistent as I would’ve liked to be.”
Of course for Prater and his family, he believes that the “easiest” thing will be to remain in the city he’s called home since 2014.
“The easiest thing, obviously, would be to stay here with the kids and (we’re) kind of established here and we love being here and living in Michigan,” Prater said. “Yeah, I would love to continue playing and hopefully it would be here.”
Prater’s three year contract he signed in 2017 is set to expire, and he’ll soon be a free-agent.
