The Michigan Wolverines suffered their first loss in Big Ten play on Wednesday night, to an unranked opponent to boot.
The Wolverines fell 71-62 to the Illinois Fighting Illini on the back of Kofi Cockburn’s 19 points and 10 rebounds. Ayo Dosunmu added 14 points, Adres Feliz had 13 and Giorgi Bezhanishvili 12.
Jon Teske led the way for the Wolverines with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Isaiah Livers and Eli Brooks added 12 points each.
Michigan wasn’t helped by their shooting beyond the arc, only converting on three of 18 attempts. Illinois also dominated scoring in the paint, putting up 44 points to Michigan’s 26.
They’ll return home to face No. 10 Oregon at Crisler Center on Saturday.
