Michigan’s Chris Evans ruled eligible to return in 2020

After being suspended for the last year for academic reasons, Michigan Football running back Chris Evans has officially been ruled eligible for 2020.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said that Evans will be welcomed back to the team, and will be able to “fully participate” as a fifth year senior once he is formally enrolled at school.

“We will welcome him back to the football team,” Harbaugh said during a press conference Monday. “He will be eligible to play.”

Evans had been suspended in February for, as he put it, not an issue with his grades.

“It’s an academic mistake,” Evans said at the time. “Not my grades. I’m on pace to graduate.”

In three years at Michigan, Evans has carried the ball 304 times for 1,722 yards and 14 touchdowns, while adding 40 catches for 392 yards and two touchdowns.
