President Trump suggests Big Ten could play without Michigan, Illinois, and Maryland

The POTUS made the suggestion via Twitter earlier today.

There have been several notable critics of the Big Ten's decision to postpone their football season due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic that's turned the sports world upside down in 2020.

Among the more notable outspoken voices calling for an immediate return to play include Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, who participated in a “Let Them Play” protest yesterday along with parents of student athletes.

One additional notable critic of the Big Ten's decision is President Donald Trump, who last week said he held a productive meeting with Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren.

Earlier today, the President tweeted that the Big Ten “may lose Michigan, Illinois, and Maryland because of those Governors’ ridiculous lack of interest or political support. They will play without them?”

Despite having some of the toughest crackdowns in the country, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has recently lifted some of the restrictions on organized sports in Michigan, including the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

The Detroit Lions are set to get their 2020 season underway later in the month, though no fans will be allowed in attendance.
