Proposed double trade would result in Detroit Lions landing Matthew Stafford’s replacement

On Sunday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a terrible injury which resulted in a compound ankle fracture. Prescott had surgery on Sunday night and though it reportedly went very well, he will almost certainly be out for the remainder of the 2020 season.

From the moment Prescott was injured, Twitter began blowing up with suggestions that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones contact the Detroit Lions about trading for Matthew Stafford.

On Monday, Jon Jansen of the Stoney and Jansen show on 97.1 The Ticket suggested a double trade that would land the Lions with what could be their quarterback of the future.

Jansen proposed the Lions trade Stafford to the Cowboys for a 1st and 4th round draft pick and they then turn around and trade that 4th round pick to the Washington Football Team for Dwayne Haskins, who seems to be on the outs in the nation’s capital.

Haskins, who was recently benched by the Redskins, was selected with the No. 15 pick of the 2019 NFL Draft after throwing 50 touchdowns and just 8 interceptions during his final season at Ohio State.

In my opinion, I would certainly consider trading Stafford for an absolute haul, but I don’t think Haskins will ever be an above-average NFL quarterback, so I would take a hard pass on bringing him in. Personally, I would try to trade for Sam Darnold before trading for Haskins.

Nation, would you make this double trade as proposed by Jon Jansen? Would you trade Stafford at all?
