The deal is worth a reported $3.1 million per USA Today writer Bob Nightengale:

He’s made $2.8 million in each of the past two years.

Originally drafted by the New York Mets in 2011, Fulmer was dealt to the Tigers in 2015 in exchange for Yoenis Céspedes. He finished 2016 with 11–7 record, 3.06 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 132 strikeouts in 159 innings pitched, and was honored with the AL Rookie of the Year award.

He made 10 starts during the shortened 2020 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, recording a 8.78 ERA, a 2.060 WHIP, 12 walks and 20 strikeouts.
