Rod Wood on HBO’s Hard Knocks: Lions would ‘live with the consequences’

In case you have not heard, the Detroit Lions are one of a handful of teams eligible to be featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks television reality series.

Lions head coach Matt Patricia has already made it clear that he wants no part of Hard Knocks.

“I think Jon Gruden is an excellent choice for that show,” Patricia said. “I think the Oakland Raiders and everything they’ve got going on right now would be fantastic viewing for everybody to watch.”

On Tuesday, Lions team president Rod Wood said he does not like the idea of being forced into something but the team would deal with the consequences if they were selected to be on Hard Knocks.

“It’s an interesting thing cause obviously we’re one of the teams, as you all know, that could be forced to be on it,” Wood said at the NFL’s annual meeting. “I’d much rather end up in the position of not being forced to be on it, and since we’re in that position I guess we’ll have to live with the consequences of what they decide.”

Wood noted that he has not heard anything one way or the other about whether or not the Lions will be on the show.
